European Championship, May 2008

The European Championshipwent well for our dojo. One of the notable highlights was Nasser, who passed his 4th Dan and Examiner Level B exams. A big congrats to Nasser from everybody in the dojo.


Weekend course in Wales, September 2007

The Chikara Shotokan Karate Academy will be holding a 2 day course with Shihan Akihito Isaka (8th Dan). This course will be held on the 8th and 9th of September 2007. Gradings will also be held for KWF members.

Camp in Algeria, August 2007

Sensei Tadrist will be travelling to Algeria to teach during Summer 2007. This camp is always popular with many participants attending from all over Algeria. For more information call Sensei Tadrist or the Algerian Karate Federation.


Tunisia camp May 2007

Yahara Sensei, 8th Dan, held the three day International Seminar in Tunisia assisted by Sensei Kawasaki and Tawara all from Japan. Sensei Tadrist travelled from the UK to assist on the course too and was accompanied by Nasser Guerras.

As well as the main training and demonstration sessions Yahara sensei organised a friendly kumite match between The KWF team: Norio Kawasaki, Sid Tadrist and Tawara Ibuki and the Tunisian national team. The KWF team defeated the home team by winning the three bouts.

The course was well attended by participants from throughout North Africa, with a 40 strong contingent from Algeria, headed by Omar Michoud. These students were particularly commended by Yahara Sensei as all gradings were successfully achieved: Two 5th Dan, One 4th Dan, Two 3rd Dan and Three 1st Dan. Well done to all for their hard work!

As ever this annual social occasion was very popular and enjoyable with 15 of our karate members in attendance. The highlight of the evening (apart from the fight!) was the surprise awarding of the Sport Personality of the Year cup to Sensei Tadrist. An excellent way to give recognition to his ongoing dedication to the ISH Karate team.


New Caledonia visit April 2007

Sensei Tadrist spent almost 4 weeks instructing in New Caledonia this spring. The courses where popular with many participants attending from the French Karate Federation and the KWF members accompanied by the local chief instructor Sensei Louis Leteau. Due to the ongoing popularity of these courses Sensei Tadrist plans to teach again in New Caledonia in the near future.


2007 Japanese KWF World Cup and Camp in March/April

Congratulations to all the participants from the UK and especially well done to all our participants from the International Student House! Our Dojo is particularly proud to have participated in the entire competition. Sensei Tadrist strongly represented the team in the adult men kumite reaching the semi-finals despite ongoing injuries.

As well as the competition all the students attending trained in Hombu Dojo and travelled to train with Sensei Tadrist at his Dojo in Yokohama. It was a great experience for everyone to have met many top instructors from around Japan. Everyone is eagerly awaiting the next trip. Thank you to everyone who arranged such an excellent competition and camp.


The 4th KWF World Cup and International Technical Seminar

The 4th KWF World Cup and International Technical Seminar will take place in Tokyo, Japan on March 30 (Fri) , 31(Sat), and April 1 (Sun) , 2007. This event will be held at the Bumb Tokyo Sports Cultural Center, Tokyo, Japan

Successful course at ISH - 30th of September

The course held at ISH on the 30th of September came and went. Sensei Tadrist spent 3 hours with a group of students discussing and practising key karate techniques(taisabaki) body shifting and evasion, correct heiko-dashi, with the workout from sonoba and ido kihon, and also the correction of hips, axis, rotation, balance, gravity and the harmony between the upper and lower body on ido kihon. We also practised Empi kata and put it into the context of kumite practise. Each session was complementary to the course. Thanks to all of you that participated and contributed to the success of the day. We will be organising further training courses in the future and will post information with the details of future courses.

Sensei Sid Tadrist just came back from a teaching course in Algeria in North Africa where he taught for a 4 days course at the beginning of August. The course was very successful with many attendant from a different cities of Algeria. Given the success of the course this year, there will be new course organised for next summer. Get ready if you wanted to travel to the African desert for a good karate sweat! You can see some pictures from the course in our photo gallery.


Course in Hampshire - Results

During the weekend of the 25th-27th of August, KWF dojo in Hampshire hold a karate summer course. During the course, top UK and European instructors taught and share the time with the students.In addition to the course, grading and competition took also place. During the grading, Nasser Guerras, member of our dojo got his third dan. In the competition Aika Yamazaki came second in Women's Kumite. Well done both!
