Karate
What is dynamic karate?
Karate
means "empty hand" (in Japanese kara translates as empty while te means
hand). It is a martial art in which the arms and legs are
systematically trained and the karateka works towards mastering various
movements, such as balance, flexibility, co-ordination, speed and
power. This is achieved through the constant practice of the basic
movements (Kihon) which, due to their variety and complexity, can be
considered as a complete art form themselves. The techniques of karate
are well controlled; the karateka learns how to direct power at a
target accurately and spontaneously. Training transforms various parts
of the body into weapons to be used freely and effectively.
The important thing about the karate style we practice is the use of the whole body in a dynamic and rhythmic way. The body should work in unity, strong and stable position, hip rotation, contraction and expansion on executing techniques. To deliver an effective and powerful strike or block hips are the key to our Karate. To be able to achieve the best of ourselves the basics and patience need to be mastered.
